Forget Sobeys, Loblaws or Swiss Chalet. In Progreso the BBQ chicken is cooked to perfection over a wood burning fire. This place is conveniently located across from the bus station in Progreso! We picked up a half chicken dinner, with sauce, mashed potatoes and rice for 55 pesos. It was delicious and there was enough left over for Scott’s lunch today.
I admit to considering giving up cooking while we are in the Yucatan. The markets and restaurants are plentiful. Delicious smells waft through the air from street vendors and restaurants. We thought it might take our tummies a bit of time to adjust to the local food but after nearly a week, no upsets. Perhaps it’s the tequila we take each night for medicinal purposes – just in case!
